The fact that there is no good article on the German Baroque poet Catharina Regina von Greiffenberg in the universally available

Wikipedia

(English language version, 2024) suggests that this major seventeenth-century religious/mystical poet is not well known outside of the Germanophile world and lingers in the shadows of her male contemporaries. She was virtually the only female German Baroque poet and enjoyed at her time considerable respect for her sonnets and other mostly religious poems. Research on her is also not overly impressive, though recently scholars have increasingly turned their attention to Catharina, so there still remains much to be done if we are willing to acknowledge her literary accomplishments.
