If you are a student and wish to use our resources, but your institution does not currently subscribe to the LE, you may consider asking your library for a trial.

If your university or college does not subscribe, you are welcome to take out a personal subscription which costs just $29.00 for a full year (circa £21 or €25) or $12.95 for a month. It gives you access to over 15 million words in reference and critical material covering all of world literature: American, British, Canadian, Hispanic, Classics, German, French, Italian, Slavic, East European, postcolonial and much more. With articles solicited by invitation from specialist scholars in higher education institutions all over the world, refereed and approved by subject editors in our Editorial Board, the LE is thus uniquely selective, reliable and authoritative. Its online format allows for rapid publication and frequent updating of articles; its integrated digital resources (author life-chronologies, customisable timelines, thematic or course-oriented bookshelves, related article clusters, critical bibliographies) respond dynamically to research and learning demands.

Secure payments can be made with your credit card via the PayPal interface, or direct from a PayPal account. You can pay in any currency and your credit card company will bill you in local currency.

We do not store credit card information. This information is given by you at the the last stage of subscription, inside the very secure environment operated by PayPal. Therefore our subscriptions cannot renew automatically.

Students and staff in institutions which subscribe to the LE (see List of subscribers) can also create a Personal User Account at no cost in order to access the additional features available to individual users of the LE. When you fill in the form, please use your institutional email address, in order to be recognised as a member of a subscribing institution and be allowed free access. Once you have filled in the form, you should check your institutional email and click on the authentification link sent by the LE.
