In 1973, Vladimir Nabokov published a collection of interviews, letters to magazine and newspaper editors, and a series of articles entitled Strong Opinions. The interviews, all of which followed the global success of his 1958 novel, Lolita, spanned ten years from 1962 to 1972, and included conversations with scholars, journalists and broadcasters featured in print in some of the most renowned international outlets — Vogue, Playboy, The Sunday Times, the New York Times, the Paris Review — and in person on British, Swiss and US television networks. The articles ranged from notes and commentaries on writers and critics — Jean-Paul Sartre, Nina Berberova, Edmund Wilson — to essays on translation, butterfly hunting, and the process of creative inspiration.
