Sadia Abbas’s debut novel, The Empty Room, which she calls “a bit of a love letter to Karachi” (Quadri), was published by Zubaan books in 2018, and shortlisted for the prestigious 2019 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. Abbas, a Pakistani-American author, is presently serving as an Associate Professor of Postcolonial Studies at Rutgers University-Newark in New Jersey, USA.
