was released in the same year that the popular HBO adaptation of the series,

Game of Thrones

(2011-2019) premiered. Much of

A Dance with Dragons

is adapted as the show’s fifth season. The novel was a commercial success, topping many bestseller lists. It received Hugo and World Fantasy Award nominations, and it won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel.
