Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

stated that sales of

Sommerhaus, später

had reached 250,000 copies, and that the book had been translated into seventeen languages (Minkmar und Weidermann, 2003). It has been hailed as a symbol for a renewal of German literature in the late 1990s.
