[The Venetian Girl and the Rebellious Student]
is a posthumous work from the late career of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti (1876-1944), founder of the Italian avant-garde movement called Futurismo [Futurism] (1909-1944)
.It was only four years after the international centennial anniversary of the foundation of Futurism that
Venezianella e Studentaccio, one of the last major works by Marinetti, was finally published posthumously in 2013 (Milan: Mondadori).
Several decades after its composition – it was written between the autumn of 1943 and the spring of 1944 – this boisterous, cutting-edge example of lyrical prose still awaits a full critical assessment.
