, published in paperback by Oxford University Press in 1990, as part of the Oxford Poets Series, is Anne Stevenson’s eleventh collection of published poems. The fifty-two-page volume contains thirty-eight previously uncollected poems written since

Selected Poems, 1956-1986,

published by OUP in 1987. Most of the poems in

The Other House

were written between the time of that publication and the summer of 1989, during which period Stevenson was a Fellow in Writing at the University of Edinburgh. Many of them first appeared individually in a range of different, literary periodicals, including:
