, published in paperback by Oxford University Press in 1990, as part of the Oxford Poets Series, is Anne Stevenson’s eleventh collection of published poems. The fifty-two-page volume contains thirty-eight previously uncollected poems written since
Selected Poems, 1956-1986,published by OUP in 1987. Most of the poems in
The Other Housewere written between the time of that publication and the summer of 1989, during which period Stevenson was a Fellow in Writing at the University of Edinburgh. Many of them first appeared individually in a range of different, literary periodicals, including:
