was released three years after its predecessor,

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

. The release (2002) of the second Harry Potter film ensured enormous interest in this book, and the release day saw long queues of fans desperate for the continuation of the Harry Potter story. The publication on 21st June 2003 was simultaneous in UK, USA and Canada, with five million copies being sold in the first twenty-four hours, breaking the world record set by the previous volume.
