History of Charles XII, King of Sweden] is a single-volume work of narrative history which records the accession of the young Charles XII to the throne of Sweden in 1697, his ensuing military successes, his bizarre retreat to Turkey, and the dramatic end to his short reign caused by his untimely death in 1718.
