Power] has been translated into over twenty foreign languages and sold in more than three million copies, yet it had originally taken him two years to find a publisher before the Drei Masken Verlag finally brought out the novel in Munich in 1925. This was rapidly followed by an American edition, published as
Powerby Viking Press in New York in 1926, and a British edition, published as
Jew Süss. A Historical Romanceby Martin Secker in London, also in 1926. The runaway success of the translation by Willa and Edwin Muir in both the USA and Britain (Secker brought out 24 editions within a year) led to higher sales in Germany too.
