Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, 1st Baronet, ARA, was a British painter, cartoonist, and designer who lived during the second half of the nineteenth century. Sometimes called “The Last Pre-Raphaelite”, Burne-Jones was a part of the second wave of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and at the vanguard of both the Aesthetic art movement and, with longtime friend and collaborator William Morris, the Arts and Crafts decorative movement. With the decorating firm Morris & Co, he became known for his stained glass windows, in which he pioneered the technique of incorporating the leading as a part of the design, outlining the figures within.
