Gregory Scofield is currently the author of seven critically acclaimed books of poetry, as well as his memoir,
Thunder Through My Veins(1999). He was born in Maple Ridge, BC on July 20, 1966 of Métis, Jewish, Polish, and German ancestry. As an adult, he has been a social worker with the urban Aboriginal populations of Vancouver and currently works as a writer and activist. He has held positions as writer-in-residence at several universities: Memorial University of Newfoundland (2003-2004), University of Manitoba (fall 2007), and University of Winnipeg (2012-2013). However, these statistics seem trite when one considers how hard Scofield has worked to establish his identity as a gay Métis writer.
