Laura Alcoba is a Franco-Argentine author, translator, and academic whose autobiographical fictions explore the memory of the political violence she witnessed as a child growing up in 1970s Argentina. Composed in French, her translingual texts adopt transcultural strategies for expressing transnational being and belonging. As a Francophone Latin American writer, she occupies an anomalous position in contemporary French and Latin American writing.
Born to Argentine parents in Cuba in 1968 and resident in France since 1979, Alcoba grew up in La Plata, the capital city of the province of Buenos Aires on the River Plate.
