Icelandic poet Kristján Jónsson was born on 13 June 1842, in a remote area in the northeast of Iceland known as Kelduhverfi. The region is distinguished by its natural features, with tall mountains to the west, a glacial river to the east, barren land to the south, and the open sea to the north. When Kristján was five years old, his father passed away, and he lived with his mother until the age of twelve, after which he began working on various farms in the area. After Kristján’s poetry gained attention and was published in magazines, he received support to pursue education in the capital. His studies did not go well and he dropped out of school after four years. He returned to north-eastern Iceland where he taught at an elementary school for one year before his passing at the young…
