Galland devoted his whole life to gathering knowledge on the Orient, and he achieved an enduring literary fame thanks to a work which satisfied the taste of the fashionable public of his time. Hence the question: what was the identity of the writer who, in addition to bringing a major contribution to the literary fashion of the “Oriental tale”, was a renowned scholar of the Orient?
