Sigurjón Birgir Sigurjónsson, better known as Sjón, is an Icelandic writer who works with various media of the written word. Born in 1962, he has published both novels and works of poetry, but has also been involved with the multimedia artistic group Medúsa, as well as the Icelandic singer Björk, not to mention numerous screenplays and stage productions. The multimodality of his works and artistic processes makes him difficult to fit into any given creative category. This difficulty in categorisation is also one that pertains to generic problems when it comes to his fiction.
