Dilruba Z Ara is a Bangladeshi diasporic writer who currently resides in Sweden. She started writing in 2006 and is said to have given an “otherwise cornered contour of women’s courage” (Biswas and Tripathi, 168). Her portrayal of family relations, social and cultural constrains faced by women and men specifically within Bengali Muslim culture, are nuanced and vivid. She has, until now, published two novels, several poems and a number of short stories. She is also a prolific translator who has translated a number of literary works in Bangla, English, and Swedish.
