Giuseppe Prezzolini’s many activities span several phases of contemporary history and connect Europe with America. In his twenties, as founder and director of the journal
La Voce, he was a leading figure in Italian cultural debates. Later, he worked for the Paris-based International Committee on Intellectual Cooperation before moving to the United States, where he became director and professor at the Casa Italiana of Columbia University. He was also a journalist for Italian and American newspapers. During the 1960s, after living in America for more than thirty years, he returned to Europe where he continued his prolific activity.
