Better known as Noémia de Sousa, Noémia Carolina Abranches de Sousa Soares was born in Katembe, Moçambique, on the 20th of September of 1926. She was a prominent Mozambican woman writer and translator, usually known as “the mother of the Mozambican poets”. She published her poetry in local newspapers such as
