Mohammad Hejazi (1901-1974), Iranian writer, state official, and senator, was born into an influential family of which the male members served the Qajar shahs (who ruled 1797-1925) as high-ranking state officials. Hejazi’s father was Seyyed Nasr-Ollah Mostowfi, who died when his son was young, which meant that his son had to be enrolled as a state offi­cial at a young age. In 1921 the Ministry of Post and Telegraph, his employer, sent Hejazi to Paris for studies in politics and telecommunications.
