Born in 1927 in Berceto, a rural community in the northern mountain region of the Appennines, near the affluent city of Parma, Luigi Bonardi adopted the pseudonym “Malerba” at the very beginning of his literary career, which coincided with the birth of the experimental movement of the Neovanguardia.
