. Based on a saying by the Treblinka inmates, the statement captures both the method and the motivation behind the Palestinian writer’s work. Drawing on a shared, global cultural heritage, Shehadeh tries to think his way out of the political impasse of his present and develop more humane forms of resistance. The Anglophone author was born in Ramallah in 1951, and has spent most of his life in occupied Palestine.
