Giose Rimanelli was born in Casacalenda (Molise), Italy, on November 28, 1925. The majority of his biography can be gleaned from his various novels, starting with

The Voyage] (2003), his last. The largest portion of his life history is present in two of his books: his mini-memoir

Rimanelli is the first child of Concetta and Vincenzo Rimanelli, in turn the first-born child of Giuseppe Rimanelli, an illegitimate offspring of a wealthy man in the town, Don Leo Marinelli. After relinquishing the infant to another, Marinelli insisted that the child be named Giuseppe
