François Béroalde de Verville (1556–1626) is primarily known as the author of the infamous novel
Le Moyen de parvenir[The Way to Succeed], although the original edition of the book did not display a name of author, a publication date, or publisher. Additionally, Béroalde denied having played any role in writing the infamous text in another one of his works titled
Le Palais des curieux[The Palace of the Curious] published in 1612. This explains the reasons for the various erroneous attributions of the
