Kate Camp is well-established as a notable Wellington poet and miscellaneous author. Her accolades include the following: in 1999, the New Zealand Society of Authors Jessie Mackay Award, for a first book of poetry,
Unfamiliar Legends of the Stars(1998), at the Montana Book Awards in 2003, Writer in Residence at the University of Waikato; in 2007, the Creative New Zealand Berlin Writers’ Residency; in 2010, the New Zealand Post Award for Poetry, for
The Mirror of Simple Annihilated Souls(2010); and in 2016, the Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship.
