Numair Atif Choudhury (1974-2018), fiction-writer and poet, is best known for his debut novel Babu Bangladesh!, published posthumously in 2019. He was born in Dhaka on 4 November 1974 to Nizam Choudhury, an airline pilot, and Lubna Choudhury, a literature teacher. In 1983 Lubna Choudhury founded Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT), which is now one of the top private schools in Bangladesh, offering O and A Levels. Choudhury got his primary and secondary education from this school.
After completing his A Levels, Choudhury enrolled in the Creative Writing Program at Oberlin College, Ohio, from which he graduated in 1997 with a Minor in International Relations.
