Paola Bianchetti was born in Castelfranco Veneto on January 4th, 1876, to an affluent family (her father and one grandfather were lawyers, her other grandfather was a doctor). Her family was also politically active: her maternal grandfather had been a member of parliament, a great-uncle on her father’s side a senator, and her father had fought in Trentino alongside Garibaldi’s troops in 1866. (high school) in Treviso. At the age of twenty-two she married Giulio Drigo, a wealthy landowner, with whom she had a son, Paolo, in 1899, and a daughter who died immediately after birth.
