Helon Habila Ngalabak was born in Kaltungo, Gombe State, Nigeria, in 1967. His father’s appointments for the Ministry of Works took the entire family, including seven siblings, to different towns across northeastern Nigeria. Helon Habila has always been an avid reader who enjoyed exploring fictional lives and times that took him beyond the world of his childhood:
