Cathleen ni Houlihan

premiered on April 2, 1902 at St. Teresa's Hall in Dublin, Ireland. Although the play's authorship was attributed exclusively to W. B. Yeats for decades after its opening, recent scholarship has revealed that the script was fully co-authored by Yeats and Augusta Gregory, Yeats's long-time friend and co-founder of the Irish National Theatre. The first production of

Cathleen

was a similarly collaborative effort; although the play was ostensibly produced by Yeats and Gregory's Irish National Theatre movement, the actors and director were supplied by Frank and William Fay's Irish National Dramatic Co.
