The liberation of Paris, a consequence of the Normandy invasion, cost over 200,000 dead and wounded Allied soldiers. German forces lost 300,000 personnel. The Allied success in Paris was aided and abetted by French resistance forces, led by Jacques-Phillipe Leclerc and Charles de Gaulle.
