Auguste Vaillant, a French anarchist, throws a bomb from the public gallery in the Paris Chamber of Deputies, injuring twenty representatives but causing no deaths. He is sentenced to death for the attack and executed on 3rd February 1894, and this execution in turn inspired two fellow anarchists to stab the French President, Francois Sadi Carnot, to death the following June.
