Tim O'Brien, prize-winning American author, is widely considered one of the most important voices on the American contemporary literary scene. He is recognized in the U.S. and abroad for his novels and short stories, but in addition he has written acclaimed literary nonfiction and essays. O'Brien's literary reputation rests mainly on his publication of eight books (one nonfiction and seven fiction) and prize-winning short stories, many of which have been incorporated into his novels. He is also a prominent lecturer and teacher of creative writing.
