Kenneth Arthur Nortje's place in South African literature is by no means assured, yet the relatively small body of work published during his lifetime, as well as the posthumously published work has generated substantial critical attention. The publication of Dirk Klopper's new critical edition, Anatomy of Dark: Collected Poems of Arthur Nortje, will invite increased attention and debate over Nortje's position in African literature.
