Ukrainian children’s literature is a set of various genres written or translated for children of all ages (from children to young adults), covering folklore, old literature, and the modern books. It is initially based on Ukrainian folklore – fairy tales, lullabies, proverbs, beliefs, and symbols as the oldest texts. From the period of Kyivan Rus to the present day, folklore has been adapted in many ways, forming a significant part of Ukrainian children’s literature (Kubiiovych, 1333). The next source of development was old Ukrainian literature, from the Kyivan Rus period to the end of the eighteenth century.
