Maryna Vardanian

Dr. Maryna Vardanian is a Professor of the Department of Translation and Slavic Studies at the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University (Ukraine). Her major research interest is Ukrainian children’s and young adult literature, both Soviet and Diasporic writers. Her current research projects examine ideological approach in translation children’s literature, the war and emigration via trauma studies, cultural memory studies, and ecocriticism. She is author of over 70 books, articles, papers, and book chapters published internationally and locally, including articles in journals such as Children’s Literature in Education, Ideology and Politics Journal, International Research in Children’s Literature,etc., and one of the latest book chapters, “Seeking Home, Discovering the Bush: The Australian Bush Envisaged in Ukrainian Children’s Books” (co-authored by Lydia Kokkola), was published as part of Palgrave Macmillan’s series “Critical Approaches to Children’s Literature” (2023). She is a member of several associations such as the International Research Society for Children’s Literature, European Children’s Literature Network, and Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies.
