Ziad Elmarsafy

Ziad Elmarsafy is s a Professor of Comparative Literature at King’s College London. His most recent publications include Sufism in the Contemporary Arabic Novel (2012) and Debating Orientalism (co-edited with Anna Bernard and David Attwell, 2013). He has also taught at the University of York, University of California, Riverside, Wellesley College and New York University, and held visiting positions at the Université Paris Nord – Paris 13, the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3 and the Institut d’Études de l’Islam et des Sociétés du Monde Musulman (IISMM) at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. He has published widely on the literature and culture of early modern Europe, the modern and contemporary Middle East and North Africa and the history of ideas.
