Devoney Looser

Devoney Looser is Professor of English at Arizona State University. She is the author of The Making of Jane Austen (a Publishers Weekly Best Summer Book [Nonfiction]), Women Writers and Old Age in Great Britain, 1750-1850 , and British Women Writers and the Writing of History, 1670-1820 , all published by Johns Hopkins University Press. Looser has edited The Cambridge Companion to Women's Writing in the Romantic Period and Jane Austen and Discourses of Feminism and has co-edited Generations: Academic Feminists in Dialogue. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The TLS, The Atlantic, Entertainment Weekly, Salon, and Slate. She is currently working on a book on the sister novelists, Jane and Anna Maria Porter, supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship.
