David C. Dougherty

Professor at Loyola University (formerly College) Maryland, 1970-2010. Also taught at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Author of three books and editor of three. Most important book Shouting Down the Silence: A Biography of Stanley Elkin (Univ of Illinois Press, 2010. Author of nearly 100 essays on literature, sports, history, environmental matters, and politics, in books, journals, magazines, and newspapers (op-ed) as well as 25 or so book reviews in newspapers and professional journals. Frequent contributor to LE. 

Currently volunteering with environmental protection groups, animal care organizations, and a local theater company. Volunteer lobbyist to Maryland General Assembly on environmental legislation.
