Peter Cogman
Peter Cogman’s doctoral thesis was on the poet and novelist P.-J. Toulet. He taught at the Unuversity of Southampton from 1968 to his retirement (as Senior Lecturer) in 2004. He has published articles on nineteenth and early twentieth century French literature, and studies of Victor Hugo’s Les Contemplations and of Prosper Mérimée’s Colomba and Carmen; his Narration in Nineteenth-Century French Short Fiction: Prosper Mérimée to Marcel Schwob (2002) was reissued by Manchester University Press in 2012. He is currently editing essays on Lord Byron and Samuel Pepys for the Champion edition of Mérimée’s Oeuvres Complètes.
