The Battle of Marston Moor involved 45 000 men. The Parliamentary army was led by Sir Thomas Fairfax and the Earl of Manchester. The Royalists were led by Prince Rupert. The Parliamentary cavalry under Oliver Cromwell won a clear victory over the Royalist cavalry. This was the largest battle of the Civil War; it broke Royalist power in the north of England.
